Ricky Gervais’ opening monologue at the Globes this year offered up plenty of biting remarks about many of Hollywood’s brightest stars, but it was a jab at Caitlyn Jenner that seems to be generating the most heat for the comedian now.

On the night, the 54-year-old had this to say about the reality star:

“I’m going to be nice tonight. I’ve changed – not as much as Bruce Jenner. Obviously. Now Caitlyn Jenner, of course,” he began.

“What a year she’s had! She became a role model for trans people everywhere, showing great bravery in breaking down barriers and destroying stereotypes. She didn’t do a lot for women drivers. But you can’t have everything, can ya? Not at the same time.”

Since then, Ricky has been fielding his fair share of criticism on Twitter, where some users took him to task for the controversial joke.
