Richie McCaw launches Westpac's Giving Tree

Kicking off the season of giving this year, Richie was at the square to officially launch the Westpac Giving Tree, an eight metre high installation that has a unique power source – donations!

Anyone can make a public donation on-site using a contactless payment card, or with the help of on-site assistants. Every time a donation is made, the Giving Tree and six other smaller ones around it will move, change colour and create sounds.

Donations can also be made at www.westpacgivingtree.co.nz, which has a 24 hour webcam placed inside one of the trees so you can still see the effects of your giving.

The donations will go towards the For Everyone Charitable Foundation, helping them fund community based projects around New Zealand in 2015.

Richie, who is a Westpac Ambassador and co-founder of the For Everyone Charitable Foundation, also presented the foundation’s 100th grant to Assistance Dogs New Zealand Trust on Friday.

The Giving Tree installation was designed by Rawstorne studio and is set to music created by Conrad Wedde of The Phoenix Foundation. It will stay in Takutai Square, Britomart, until December 21 this year.
