A huge congratulations to Lydia Ko, who has won Best Female Golfer at the ESPY awards today! The talented 17-year-old beat current world number one Inbee Park and world number three Stacy Lewis to take out the Oscar-equivalent sports award.

The Kiwi golfer is in esteemed company at the distinguished ceremony, which has recognised such stars as Serena Williams and LeBron James.

She was also nominated for Best International Athlete – the only female nominated for the award – which also included nominees Cristiano Ronaldo, Lewis Hamilton and Novak Djokovic. It was won by Lionel Messi.

Lydia became the youngest golfer to hold the world number one ranking earlier this year, at 17 years and 167 days. The record was previously held by Tiger Woods at 21 years and 167 days.

Lydia has maintained the number one spot for most of 2015, relinquishing it only recently to Inbee Park.

The ESPY ceremony was attended by many of the Kardashian and Jenner families, there to support Caitlyn Jenner, who was honoured with the Arthur Ashe Award for Courage.
