Lorde’s parents announce they’ve tied the knot

Lorde’s parents, Sonja Yelich and Vic O’Connor have gotten married.

Sonja Yelich took to Twitter yesterday to announce that her and O’Connor got hitched on Cheltenham beach on Auckland’s North Shore.

The pictures showed the couple holding hands and sharing a kiss on a sunny beach while clutching glasses of champagne. Both wore black suits, white tops and sunglasses.

The caption read: “today at 10am we got married.”

Yelich also posted the news to Instagram and said all her children were at the wedding.

Lorde (20) is the second eldest of the four Yelich-O’Connor children.

In 2014, the singer tweeted the her dad, an engineer, had proposed to her mum, a poet, while the couple were visiting Niagara Falls.

Lorde, whose real name is Ella Yelich O’Connor, has been in New Zealand this week for the graduation of her sister Jerry Yelich-O’Connor.

On Wednesday night Sonja Yelich posted a video showing Lorde lifting up her sister in graduation robes in front of the Albert Park fountain. It was captioned “Jerry’s Graduation.”

Lorde shot to fame in 2013 after her single Royals, off the album Pure Heroine, took the world by storm.

She is set to release her second album Melodrama June 16.

So far the hitmaker has released the single Green Light off the record as well as playing new track Liability live on Saturday Night Live.

Recently she played shows at American music festival Coachella where she also debuted songs off the album.
