The beloved actress and singer has long fought her issues with substance abuse and alcohol, and her rep has now confirmed Liza is already in the rehab facility.
“Liza Minnelli has valiantly battled substance abuse over the years and whenever she has needed to seek treatment she has done so,” Liza’s spokesperson said in a statement.
The rep also said the star is “doing well” and the expectation is Liza will be released from the facility soon. TMZ reports the rehab centre is in Malibu, California.
“Considering she’s doing so well, we expect that she’ll be released shortly,” her spokesperson told People.
Liza, 69, has been open about her past struggles and has talked candidly about previous experiences of rehab. Her mother, Hollywood icon Judy Garland, also struggled with substance abuse and passed away of an overdose in 1969 aged 47.
“My whole life, this disease has been rampant. I inherited it, and it’s been horrendous, but I have always asked for help,” Liza told The Guardian in 2008.
