Jason Gunn weighs in on DWTS scandal: 'It's just cruel'

The scandal surrounding Dominic Harvey’s now-deleted Instagram post has escalated to new levels, as Kiwi entertainer Jason Gunn, Dom’s wife Jay-Jay Harvey and Chrystal’s fellow Bachelorette Dani Robinson weigh in on the debate.

After Dom shared an image of Chrystal mid-split during the finale of Dancing with the Stars, Chrystal called for him to be sacked, saying he needed to be held “accountable” for a “long list of errors” made on social media and on air.

However, Dom’s wife Jay-Jay has broken her silence and made a very public post supporting her embattled husband on Facebook.

“My husband Dom Harvey and I are not the same person, and do not have the same opinion or viewpoint on everything, but I love him,” she wrote.

“His main aim in life is to make people laugh. And he does it. Sometimes he offends people, but so do the best comedians. Not everyone gets or appreciates every joke in the world,” she wrote.

Meanwhile, Chrystal’s close friend Dani Robinson came to her defence on Twitter, stating she was Team Chrystal.

“Me & my family have been victims of @DomHarvey’s disgusting sense of humour, it’s about time he stops hurting others for entertainment,” she wrote.

Jason Gunn also shared his two cents on Facebook, posting a candid video in which he defended both Chrystal and Dom and said New Zealanders needed to “step away from the keyboard”.

He acknowledged that he did not know Chrystal, but said “she was amazing” on the show. He also revealed he had worked with Dom many times and found him “kind” and “genuine”, and turned the debate back onto New Zealanders themselves.

“It’s not about Dom. It’s not about Chrystal. It’s about us,” he said.

“You and I, what are we doing? Have you read what these people are saying, the comments? For the love of God, it is just cruel!”
