The 34-year-old American actress and singer revealed to People she was diagnosed with MS 15 years ago.
She is best known for her role as Meadow Soprano The Sopranos. The actress opened up about her struggle battling the neurological condition in silence.
NY Daily News reported that after she opened up to an ‘industry professional’ they responded with, “I’m going to pretend you didn’t tell me that,” and warned her that “people will limit you, they will judge you and they will not hire you.”
However, today the actress feels totally different disclosing details of the debilitating neurological disorder she suffers from.
“I feel a great weight off my shoulders,”
“I didn’t want to bring my son up in a home where he felt like he had to hold this secret for me too,”
“I feel relief … I’m claiming my power back”
The actress is now excited for what the future holds and she has nothing to hide anymore.
“I’m excited to go back to work without feeling that I have something to hide,” she told Lauer. “I understand some people may not want to hire me, and some people may, but I have every intention of continuing my career.”
