Identity of Bachelor New Zealand revealed

What do you make of the new Bachelor?
Jordan Mauger The Bachelor

The identity of the latest New Zealand Bachelor has been revealed – and he’s quite the dish.

Actor and model Jordan Mauger will star in series two of the popular dating reality show, where a series of eligible bachelorettes will attempt to win the affections of Mr Mauger.

The 32-year-old Christchurch native works in the film industry and has been single for two years.

And after trying the dating scene Jordan says he’s keen to meet the right girl and settle down.

“I want to meet that somebody. Someone I can be spontaneous with. Someone I can do the chores with, or go to samba dancing or papier-mache classes with – whatever!” he said.

And speaking of his ideal woman, Jordan had a distinctly mature perspective on what he’s looking for.

“People say to me there are punk chicks, rock chicks and Barbies, or ask me if I’m into redheads or brunettes. Well, I don’t know. Maybe I’m into highlighter green? I don’t want to get tunnel vision.”

The handsome South Islander spent most of his 20s being single and working on superyachts, with his last proper relationship finishing two years ago.

He dedicated his time since then travelling and working hard, but he says he’s terrified of becoming “some tragic 50-year-old in the Mediterranean, with a pot belly hanging over my Speedos, who still can’t find somebody to love.”

Twenty three women will be vying for Jordan’s attention over the course of the reality series that starts Monday, March 7 at 7.30pm on TV3.
