Rocker duo Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale have officially split after 13 years of marriage. The couple confirmed the news in a statement to Us Weekly yesterday, saying the split was a “mutual decision”.

“While the two of us have come to the mutual decision that we will no longer be partners in marriage, we remain partners in parenthood and are committed to jointly raising our three sons in a happy and healthy environment,” the couple said.

“To that end, we respectfully request privacy from the media during this time.”

TMZ reported that Gwen filed for divorce on Monday in the Los Angeles Superior Court, and both Gwen and Gavin are citing ‘irreconcilable differences. The couple have three children together, Kingston (9), Zuma (6) and Apollo (17 months) and are reportedly seeking joint custody.

Gwen, 45, and Gavin, 49, started dating in 1995 after Gwen’s band No Doubt opened for Gavin’s band Bush on tour. The couple married in London in September 2002 and had a second ceremony in Los Angeles two weeks later.

While the couple kept their relationship private, Gwen did open up about the marriage in an interview with Cosmopolitan earlier this year.

“We go through so much together – it’s a miracle that we could stay together this long,” she told the magazine.

Gwen posted this loved-up snap (her last Instagram photo taken with Gavin) earlier this year.
