Silver Ferns and netball legend Tania Dalton is gravely ill in hospital after collapsing while playing touch rugby.

The 45-year-old, who is a mum-of-three, suffered a ruptured internal carotid artery aneurism on Thursday night, and was rushed to hospital.

She is currently unconscious in Critical Care at Auckland Hospital, NZME report.

Dalton, who is now a Sky TV commentator, played 37 tests for the Silver Ferns, playing at goal shoot and goal attack from 1996-2007.

Her husband Duane told the Herald on Sunday he was currently facing “every husband and father’s worst nightmare”.

“All I can say is that Tarns is once again showing us what an incredible battler she is and, right now, she is putting up the fight of her life.

“We couldn’t be prouder of her or love her more.”
