Former All Black player Byron Kelleher has been arrested for “destruction and domestic violence,” French news outlets are reporting.

Kelleher, who used to play as halfback for the All Blacks, was arrested on the streets of Toulouse on Tuesday evening local time.

According to reports from French paper L’Equipe, the star vandalised a door and attacked a woman who was with him.

France 3 also reported that the woman refused to complain to police “for fear of reprisals.”

It is believed the 39-year-old is still currently in custody in the French city, where he runs a rugby themed bar called Haka Corner.

Kelleher moved to Toulouse in 2007, where he played ruby until 2011.

This is not the first time the All Black has been in trouble with the law however. He has two drink driving charges, and in 2009 he was involved in a fight after another drink driving incident.

After the 2009 incident, the star made a public apology for his behaviour, saying:

“It should never have taken this turn.

“I got stupidly upset. Especially because of the alcohol and I had false friends who dragged me to do the wrong thing.

“I don’t want people from Toulouse to think this is normal and that what happened doesn’t affect me.

“I am not a mercenary who comes to play for a year or two, takes his money and comes back home.”

Kelleher played for the All Blacks from 1999 till 2007, leaving to take up a contract with the French side. He retired from rugby four years later.
