Charlize Theron has come under fire for her son’s choice of fancy dress costume.
Last week, the actress’s 4-year-old son Jackson, who she adopted from South Africa in 2012, was spotted out with his famous mum dressed as his favourite princess, Elsa from Frozen.
According to Refinery 29, he was “wearing a dress and a hat with a long Elsa braid.”
But while, let’s face it, most kids love nothing more than dressing Elsa, people on the internet had a lot to say about the situation:
A lot of the tweets put emphasis on the fact that Jackson is black. As does this article from Media Takeout, which also seems to claim Charlize is raising him as “a transgender”.
But some people celebrated Charlize’s decision to let Jackson dress and act exactly how he wants. One wrote sarcastically: “How dare Charlize Theron let her son dress how he wants to dress! how dare she not enforce gender roles that cause ppl to hate themselves!”
Another tweeted: “Charlize Theron’s son wanted to dress up as Elsa. Great parenting. Your kid can do what they like, its not gonna “make them gay.”
