Anne Hathaway was ‘stressed out’ by fame

The Oscar-winning actress talks about how her time in the spotlight has changed her
Anne Hathaway reveals fame messed her up

Anne gets candid in the latest issue of Elle UK, where she’s not afraid to admit her celebrity status threw her for a bit of a loop.

“The fame thing? F***ed me up for a really long time,” she revealed.

“I didn’t know how to do it; I didn’t know how to engage with it; it stressed me out. And people would say, ‘You just have to be yourself,’ and I was like, ‘But I don’t know who that is yet!'”

The media scrutiny didn’t get any easier last year, when Anne Hathaway took home a haul of awards for her role as Fantine in the movie version of the Les Miserables musical. Winning an Oscar and a Golden Globe meant she was a constant fixture on red carpets and TV screens – something the 31-year-old actress was acutely aware of.

“My impression is that people needed a break from me,” she told The Huffington Post at the time.

Anne’s self-imposed hiatus is well and truly over now, though, as audiences will soon see the brunette beauty on screen with Matthew McConaughey in Christopher Nolan’s new film Interstellar.

With more films on the way and her marriage to hubby Adam Shulman, busy Anne doesn’t look to be slowing down any time soon.
