Amy Schumer calls out teen over sexist tweet

The comedienne shows why it doesn't pay to mess with a celebrity on Twitter!

With her career going from strength to strength and a new love (furniture designer Ben Hanisch) in her life, Amy Schumer should be on top of the world – but not even comedy’s newest golden girl is immune to a crass joke.

In a now-deleted tweet, 17-year-old film critic Jackson Murphy shared a photo of himself with the Trainwreck star during the Critics’ Choice Awards yesterday.

“Spent the night with @amyschumer. Certainly not the first guy to write that,” he wrote.

Amy didn’t hesitate to criticise the teen for his choice of words, taking to Twitter to reply to him directly.

In response, the young critic promptly took down the offending selfie and posted a sincere apology, thanking Amy for the picture and saying he was “glad” she won the Critics’ Choice Award (for Best Actress in a Comedy).

“That’s really okay honey,” she wrote in reply, adding that the ill-advised quip was a “bummer” as she thought Jackson and his father were “sweet”.

Jackson, who runs film review blog ‘Lights Camera Jackson’, is the youngest member of the Broadcast Film Critics Association and was asked to join in 2013. The group is responsible for voting on the Critics’ Choice Awards each year.
