A mum from Pennsylvania has lost her life, just three days after giving birth to her premature baby.

Danielle Janofsky and her husband of five years, Max, were over the moon when they discovered they were expecting a second child in September.

But this February, three months away from her due date, Danielle headed to the doctors with troubling abdominal pains.

Tragically, doctors discovered that the melanoma that she had been diagnosed with two years previously, had returned, and had spread to other organs including her liver and brain.

Danielle and her husband Max then had to make the devastating decision to deliver their baby son early, in the hope he would still survive.

On February 24, Danielle gave birth to Jake, her second child and brother to their four year old daughter, Avery. She died three days later.

A Go Fund Me page has been set up for her husband and two children, to help assist in Jake’s medical care and for the two kids to get the best education possible.

On the page, Danielle’s selfless decision to give birth to Jake and sacrifice herself is praised.

Her husband, an Iraq and Afghanistan veteran, was reportedly “by her side every minute helping to ease her pain and remind her of how much love surrounds her and her family.”
