The hotel Kim Kardashian was staying at when she was robbed at gunpoint failed to keep up adequate security measures, according to the concierge who was on duty during the attack.

Speaking to The Daily Mail, the concierge – identified only as Abdulrahman – said “there was no real security at all” at the prestigious hotel, which is a favourite with visiting celebrities.

Kim had been staying at the Hôtel de Pourtalès in Paris at the time of her robbery.

Kim has scaled back her presence on social media in the wake of the terrifying attack.

According to Abdulrahman, the hotel has not had working security cameras on the premises for at least six years, and the security code for the front door had not changed since 2010, meaning “everybody knew it”. He also claimed it was normal practice for just a single guard to be on duty.

Two weeks after the robbery took place, The Daily Mail reported that they used the same code to gain access to the reception area of the hotel.

“It’s a choice. The hotel doesn’t mind about security. We told them years and years before, you have to make a camera, you have to put [in place] a security process, about keys,” Abdulrahman told The Daily Mail.

Abdulrahman claims the code for the front door of the luxury hotel had not been changed in six years.

“Nothing was locked, there was no proper security there.”

The 39-year-old, who was held at gunpoint and forced to lead the robbers to Kim’s door during the armed robbery, says he spoke out about his security concerns in an email to his bosses in 2010 to no avail.

“One day, someone might be killed. That is more important than a robbery of rocks and metal,” he told The Daily Mail.

Kim, 35, was bound and gagged at gunpoint inside her rooms at the Hôtel de Pourtalès on October 3, while thieves stole an estimated £8.5million (NZD$13.3 million) in jewellery.

The shaken reality star was thankfully unhurt during the horrific incident, which occurred while her bodyguard was on duty with her sisters at a nearby nightclub.
