Antonia Kidman is one of four celebrities participating in the Singapore Celebrity Concierge – a VIP travel service that gives people the chance to win a one-on-one personalised consultation via Skype, gaining insider tips and insights on how to discover and enjoy Singapore like a local.

It is part of a push to encourage Australians to travel to Singapore and dispel misconceptions about the destination.

Kidman has lived in Singapore for the past four years and with six children, is very familiar with the city’s best places for entertaining family, friends and having some time alone.

The TV personality and author says that she most loves the city’s tradition and heritage, which “are the foundation of the modern Singapore.”

“These core features of its identity have been incorporated into its transformation as a supremely modern and functional city.

I love that all you have to do is scratch the surface and a culture and people that are simultaneously fascinating, warm and welcoming will provide a wonderfully satisfying experience.”

The campaign tagline, “Get Lost and Find The Real Singapore” has flooded Australian media over recent weeks and Kidman says that for her, ‘the real Singapore’ “is a unique blend of cultures, mixed with elements of old world colonial charm and set against the backdrop of a dynamic, vibrant and contemporary city.”

She encourages families to travel there as “it is very safe and geographically not large, so getting around is easy.”

Other celebrities participating in the venture are star chef Tetsuya Wakuda, TV and radio presenter Tom Williams and Masterchef finalist Audra Morrice.

Antonia Kidman’s Travel Tips for Singapore

Best place to shop

It depends on what you are into.  My daughter is 15 and loves ION and Orchard Road.  I prefer Cluny Court, which has an eclectic array of homewares, clothes and kids stores.

Best place to eat

I love the hawker centres, but I also like Boomerang Cafe at Boat Quay for breakfast on Sunday.

Best place to relax

Taking a walk around MacRitchie Reservoir is great.  Also, there are plenty of places for a quick foot reflexology.

First place she takes people who have never before been to Singapore

I recommend the new Children’s Garden at Gardens by the Bay. They really are impressive.

Best place to take family and friends who visit

Fort Canning is lovely. They often have theatre and movies playing in the outdoors.

Best places to take kids

There are so many options in Singapore. From Universal Studios on Sentosa, the S.E.A Aquarium through to the many water parks.
