The most beautiful waterfalls in New Zealand

It’s officially waterfall season, and it’s time to get out there and enjoy the sights of our beautiful country.
Bridal Veil Falls

Bridal Veil Falls

Bridal Veil Falls, Raglan

One of the most spectacular falls in the North Island, little Raglan’s Bridal Veil Falls truly are a sight to behold. With viewing platforms so you can take in all 55 metres of this magical sight, Bridal Veil Falls is just a 10 minute walk from the carpark, and only 20 mins from Raglan itself.

Fairy Falls, Henderson

Fairy Falls are a firm favourite of in-the-know Aucklanders, who love to escape to the Waitakere Ranges from the city. It’s a 45 minute walk to get there, but these pretty falls are definitely worth the trek, as is the beautiful bush surrounding them.

KiteKite Falls, Piha

Added bonus of these West Coast falls are that they come with a large swimming hole. Staning at 40 metres high, they’re quite a sight to behold.

Rainbow Falls, KeriKeri

A northland gem – you can have your own real life Pocahontas moment behind Rainbow Falls, that stand at 27 metres high. Also good for those not up for a long walk – these falls are just a few hundred metres from the car park.

Mt Damper Falls, Taranaki

One of the highest falls in the North Island, this waterfall looks like something straight out of a fantasy novel. Standing at 74 metres tall, it’s an hour and a half out of New Plymouth.

Purakaunui Falls, The Caitlins

Down in the stunning Caitlins Forest Park, these multi-tiered falls are one of Otago’s most photographed spots. And at just two hours outside of Dunedin or Invercargill, they’re definitely worth a visit for anyone down south.

Humboldt Falls, Fiordland

These really have to be seen to be believed. There’s an easy walking track in and out, and the falls can only be seen from the official viewing platform. Standing at 275 metres, you can see why!

Sutherland Falls, Milford

Considered New Zealand’s tallest waterfall (Browne Falls nearby is also disputed to hold this title), Sutherland is 580 metres high – and pretty damn spectacular. If you’re a tramper, you can take the Milford Track for four days to reach them, or book a scenic flight if you’re feeling less adventurous.
