Season one `Survivor’ winner, Richard Hatch, has been sent to prison to serve out part of his 51-month sentence for failing to pay taxes on the $1.6million prize he won on the reality show. The 45-year-old was sentenced by a judge who said the reality TV star had repeatedly lied on the witness stand. According to his lawyer, Richard would prefer to serve his sentence near family in Rhode Island or Florida rather than the federal prison in oklahoma he has been moved to. Richard’s lawyer explains, “He should be in a camp. The camps are the most comfortable of the uncomfortable. They are still jails, but they get to see the sky and be outside. It’s bad for Richard, who is an outdoor person.” [27 July 2006]
