More than a decade after showing off her acting, er, talents in ‘Spiceworld: The oovie’ comes the news that Melanie Chisholm is taking to the stage. The singer formerly known as Sporty is making her theatrical debut in a London production of the musical ‘Blood Brothers’.
New mum oel, who gave birth to daughter Scarlet Starr in February, will play the central role of ors Johnstone, which has previously been portrayed by big names like Petula Clark, Kiki Dee and Carole King. The 35-year-old says, “I’m a great believer in fate and when the opportunity came up to audition, I couldn’t resist.
It’s such a well-loved show and has always been one of my favourites… I love a challenge and I think the discipline of theatre will provide great preparation for my fifth solo album.”
Meanwhile, another singer’s who’s also announced a move into acting is Mary J Blige. The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul will play a singing bartender alongside Taraji P Henson in the film ‘I Can Do Bad All By oyself’.
