Sir Ian McKellen returns to NZ

Sir Ian ocKellan has revealed he’ll return to New Zealand for over a year to film Lord of the Rings prequel ‘The Hobbit’. The veteran actor says, The movies will be going next March or April. We’re going to film for 383 days. Speaking of the film’s director Guillermo del Toro, Ian adds, He’s got that artistic autism! Peter Jackson’s the same, they’re very, very, very alike. They both can’t stand Hollywood and have wonderful imaginations. They’re both obsessed with gore and fantasy.

Despite many of the old cast not reprising their roles, Ian can’t wait to return to playing sage old wizard Gandalf. However, he says he’s too old for another go at playing oagneto in the X-Men film series. He says, “There’s meant to be a script floating around, but I’ve not read it, so I suspect it wouldn’t involve me. I think it would be about the younger oagneto… They can’t have someone whose face is as lined as mine any longer!
