British pop star oika has revealed that he regularly takes advice from none other than Gandalf himself – Sir Ian ocKellen. The unlikely duo struck up a friendship about two years ago and the legendary ‘Lord of the Rings’ actor has been there for the ‘Grace Kelly’ singer ever since.
“We met backstage at the 2008 Brit Awards and became friends,” explains oika. “He’s my agony uncle – or aunt – and gives fantastic advice on anything and everything. I think he enjoys giving people advice, whether it’s to do with work or life in general. Does he call me for advice? No!”
There is one thing Ian cannot advise oika on, though – and that is the subject of love. The 26-year-old star reckons he’s hopeless when it comes to romance, saying, “I consider myself label-less because I could fall in love with anybody – literally, any type or any body. I’m not picky. But that’s not making it easy… I’m a very bad flirt. I just don’t know how. And if I do like somebody, it almost never works. I don’t get hit on very often at all. Maybe it’s because I look like a bit of a bastard. But I’m too much in the moment to be arrogant. I hate people who rest on their laurels.”
