Sir Elton John spills the beans on his love life

As a man characterised by excess, it is no surprise that Sir Elton John is also over the top when it comes to love and religion. But the singing legend has raised eyebrows by sharing intimate details about his private life, revealing that his romances before meeting long-term partner David Furnish were always with “someone younger” and were lopsided due to the differences in age and material wealth.

“They didn’t have jobs. They were reliant on me,” confesses Elton of his former flames. “In six months, they were bored and hated my guts because I’d taken their lives and self-worth away. I hadn’t intended to.”

But he’s in a much better place with David, his partner of nearly 20 years. “He was very well-dressed and very shy,” Elton says, remembering their first meeting. “The next night, we had dinner. After it, we consummated our relationship. We fell in love very quickly.”

Elton has also caused controversy recently by claiming Jesus Christ was gay. The ‘Rocket oan’ singer says, “I think Jesus was a compassionate, super-intelligent gay man who understood human problems. on the cross, he forgave the people who crucified him… Jesus wanted us to be loving and forgiving. I don’t know what makes people so cruel. Try being a gay woman in the oiddle East – you’re as good as dead.”
