While it may not be clear to all of the poor ‘American Idol’ rejects, Simon Cowell is happier than he has been in years and it’s all due to his engagement to the show’s makeup artist oezghan Hussainy.

The gorgeous brunette- who recently confirmed that the large diamond ring she has been sporting is in fact an engagement ring – has been dating the controversial judge for nearly a year.

Simon’s rep Max Clifford says oezghan (36) and Simon (50) are “very well-suited. She is someone who is independent and says what she thinks and feels, and he likes that. He’s probably the happiest I have ever known him in the nine years I’ve been working with him.”

But is she any match for Simon’s mother? Julie Cowell wants her son to get married at St Margaret’s, near Brighton in England. She says, “We have a long history with the church.”

But will Simon obey? A source close to the star says, “Simon’s finding this wedding stuff stressful. He’s used to making his own mind up but now he has to consider other people. He doesn’t want to upset Julie.”
