‘Basic Instinct’ actress Sharon Stone was found guilty of negligence at a Los Angeles court recently, and will have to pay US$1.5million (NZ$1.8million) in damages.
The verdict comes after a worker, Peter Karuse, claims to have injured his knee after slipping and falling through the star’s fence when he was carrying out work on her estate in 2006.
But Sharon’s lawyer Jerry Popovich was “disappointed” with the jury’s verdict, which it reached after deciding the actress’ fence was not sturdy enough to prevent Peter’s fall.
Speaking outside court, he told reporters, “We’re disappointed they did not take her testimony at face value.”
Peter sued Sharon (53) in 2008 after claiming the injury had limited his employment opportunities.
