Actress Scarlett Johansson thinks seeking advice is vital to make relationships work.
The He’s Just Not that Into You actress, who has been romantically linked with actors Sean Penn and Bradley Cooper since splitting with Ryan Reynolds in December 2010 after two years of marriage, believes “communication” is essential and has learned that she doesn’t have to figure out problems by herself.
“I have learned that communication is the most valuable part of a relationship,” she says. “Being truthful to yourself and to your partner and, when you have a problem, getting to the root of it.
“I think people are secretive by nature. I like to try to work things out on my own and I am not used to seeking out advice. But when you’re in a relationship, just realising that you don’t have to take care of everything is important.”
The 27-year-old actress also admitted she would love to have children one day but is currently too focused on her work to consider putting her personal life first.
Asked if she finds it hard balancing professional and personal commitments, she told You magazine, “I’m still looking for that balance. Half of my heart belongs to my work. I think that probably changes when you have children. At some point I’d like to have kids. I am nowhere near that now, though. I have too much to do.”
