She poked fun at witches in the 1993 comedy ‘Hocus Pocus’ and now Sarah Jessica Parker has been left stunned by the revelation that one of her own relatives was accused of witchcraft!
The ‘Sex and the City’ actress recently starred in an episode of the US series of ‘Who Do You Think You Are’ and discovered that her 10th great-grandmother Esther Ellwell only narrowly avoided being burnt at the stake because the infamous Salem witch trials disbanded just weeks before she was due to take the stand in 1692.
The hit show, in which celebrities trace their roots, also shows Sarah Jessica discussing her unconventional background, growing up in Nelsonville, an old ohio mining town, as one of eight children.
The star has three kids herself – son James (7), plus and eight-month-old twins Tabitha and oarion, who were born via a surrogate – and says, “Your children are your priority. You do everything you can to make sure they are content… But most working mothers probably do a lot better than I do, with far less support than I have. So I don’t think that I’m any champion. I muddle through the best that I can.”
