She is about to hit our screens again in ‘Sex and the City 2’ but Sarah Jessica Parker has admitted she’d be reluctant to ever give up her role as Carrie Bradshaw – even the teenage version.
‘Sex and the City’ author Candace Bushnell has just released ‘The Carrie Diaries’, a book which follows the young Carrie as she navigates her senior year of high school, and Sarah Jessica has shared her thoughts on a possible cinema remake.
Says Sarah Jessica, “It makes perfect sense [that another actress would be cast]. And I would like to be generous of spirit and say, ‘of course,’ and, ‘I will do so if that is asked of me.'” But on letting Carrie be played by another actress? “I just don’t know. It’s like I can’t imagine anyone else playing Dorothy Gale [in Wizard of oz] – just Judy.”
The 45-year-old actress insists advances in video technology would make it possible for her to play the journalist as a teenager. “Maybe they should use old footage of me. And in this new age of ‘Avatar’, what about a new 17-year-old SJP?.”
Whatever happens, Sarah Jessica doesn’t need to worry yet. Candace has stated any film for ‘The Carrie Diaries’ is still a long way off. “It’s not in my hands, so there aren’t any plans at this moment.”
