Samantha oorton was booted out of Elton John’s mansion after one of his favourite sculptures – worth tens of thousands of dollars – was smashed to smithereens. While Elton was away hosting a show in New York, his hubby David Furnish threw a party with Liz Hurley to celebrate the launch of the new Versace store. The accident happened when a friend of the `River Queen’ star brushed against Elton’s beloved statue with the tail of her dress, knocking it to the ground. A horrified David promptly evicted the pair, plus two of their friends, from the party. A source says, “Judging by David’s appalled reaction, the statue was obviously worth a lot of money – he seemed very flustered and worried. He was hosting the party without Elton and the last thing he needed was for something like this to happen.” David’s spokesperson says, “We don’t want a smashed sculpture to overshadow what was a fantastic evening, raising money for a breast cancer charity.” [11 September 2006]
