They have never had an easy father-daughter relationship but Ryan and Tatum o’Neal appeared to have put their differences behind them during a recent night out. Attending an American awards ceremony, the pair were all smiles for the camera, hinting that they had healed their ongoing rift.
In 2004, Tatum (43), penned an autobiography called ‘A Paper Life’ in which she described her difficult childhood, battle with drugs and strained relationship with Ryan. But Ryan blasted his daughter’s claims, complaining, “How dare she throw our laundry in the street for money!”
However, after Farrah Fawcett’s death last year following a long battle with cancer, Ryan (68) has admitted he is lonely and has been trying to heal his relationship with Tatum. “It’s so nice to see her again. I’ve missed her terribly and that’s a big step for us,” he said during a recent interview.
The pair even seemed to laugh off the embarrassing incident at Farrah’s funeral where Ryan tried to chat Tatum up! “That’s our relationship in a nutshell,” said Tatum. “You make of it what you will. It had been a few years since we’d seen each other, and he was always a ladies’ man, a bon vivant.”
