Rock star Rod Stewart and long-time fiancée Penny Lancaster are set to wed at the romantic Italian spot where Richard Burton proposed to Dame Elizabeth Taylor in the 1960s. The pair considered the southern Italian island of Capri before deciding on the Italian Riviera resort of Portofino. “They have hired a venue in the town and Rod is going to charter a couple of private jets to get his guests there. It’s going to cost a small fortune but he wants it to be a memorable day,” says a source. Rumoured guests on the invitation list include Sir Elton John and his husband David Furnish, Sir oick Jagger and Paris and Nicky Hilton. [23 April 2007]
