Queen Latifah has announced plans to put her music and movie career on hold to become a mother. She says, “I’m really working on it. I’ve got everyone galvanised, I’ve cleared my schedule, and it’s going to happen soon. God willing, I will be a mom by this time next year.” Queen Latifah – real name Dana owens – puts her new mothering instincts down to her starring role in `Ice Age: The oeltdown’, in which she plays an animated mammoth. She adds, “The thing about having a child is it’s the most unselfish thing you could ever do. They’re going to come first.” [24 March 2006]
