The Pope’s first foray onto Twitter came the same day as a new Vatican website was launched to expand the influence of the church in cyberspace. Although the tweet was prepared by a staff member, Pop Benedict XVI personally sent the message from his iPad. He posted: “Dear Friends, I just launched News.va. Praised be our Lord Jesus Christ! With my prayers and blessings, Benedictus XVI.”The inaugural tweet came in commemoration of the Pope’s 60th anniversary of being ordained as a Catholic priest.
