Before he scored a lead role in Grey's Anatomy', Patrick Dempsey was an insecure wreck due to being out of work for a decade. The actor, who plays Dr Derek Shepherd in the hit TV series, experienced a career slump after starring in films through the 1980s and 1990s such as
Can’t Buy oe Love’ and `outbreak’. Patrick explains his previous anxieties were along the lines of, “I’m ugly, I’m untalented, I’m no good, I’m a has-been. It’s like, what happened to me? I used to be me.” He even admits that he couldn’t bear to go to the cinema as he was too upset about not starring in any films himself. He adds, “I’d come in [to movies] with this bitter attitude. It’s not an escape because I feel this disappointment, this jealousy.” [28 February 2006]
