Pam stamps out Colonel Sanders

Pamela Anderson is trying to stop takeaway chicken giants KFC from having a postage stamp made that bears an image of the chain’s founder, Colonel Sanders. The `Stacked’ star – a staunch member of animal-rights group PETA – has blasted KFC for its treatment of chickens and has been part of a long-standing campaign on behalf of her feathered friends. She wrote to the US Postmaster, “Honouring a man whose legacy involves breaking animals’ bones and scalding animals to death in defeathering tanks is contrary to the values of most compassionate citizens, and I hope that you’ll deny KFC’s request.” She adds, “How about another Elvis stamp instead?” [23 January 2007]
