Ex-Coronation Street star Nikki Sanderson, who left the popular soap earlier this year, has admitted that she is still looking for a new acting role. The actress, who played hairdresser Candice Stowe for six years, says, “I’m in the big wide world now. Leaving something as prestigious as Coronation Street is difficult and I do think it was a brave thing to do – because I could have stayed in the Street.” She added, “I absolutely adore the show – everything to do with it, the people, the place. It was just a case of wanting to spread my wings and try something new – whether it is in theatre or on TV. I’ve already had a couple of auditions. one I didn’t get, but the other I’m waiting to hear back on. So fingers crossed.” [28 November 2005]
