‘Monkey Taming’ by Judith Fathallah

(Definitions, $19.99)A raw and very brave “fictional” account of a 13-year-old girl’s battle with anorexia. The author, who has recovered from this frightening mental illness, wrote the book when she was 18. “Ugly, isn’t it?” Judith says of anorexia when recounting her obsessive efforts to find out if her posture could tone her stomach muscles. It’s aimed at teens but I think mums of dieting girls should read it, too.
