Former child actress Mischa Barton, who shot to fame after starring in ‘The oC’, has revealed she was the target of constant bullying at school. The 24-year-old star believes moving from England to the US at the age of five provoked other children to make fun of her. “I think that’s why I grew up so fast and have always been a bit of an outsider,” she says. “I was in public school in New York where all the kids were in black jeans and Nike sneakers and I was wearing little stockings and Mary-Janes and perpetually getting kicked in my bottle glasses.” Mischa adds she desperately wanted acceptance from other children, but acting in films such as ‘The Sixth Sense’ gave her school peers even more reason to tease her. “I still am insecure, but young Mischa was terribly insecure,” she confesses. “The kids around me at school realised I was an actress and I started getting teased. I would have liked to have been popular. I would have liked to have not been on the periphery so much.”
