Madonna has ribbed former pal Britney Spears for going commando on her wild nights out. The 48-year-old superstar, who once stripped off for her own controversial `Sex’ book, told US talk show host David Letterman she thinks the no-knickers trend is “dreadful”, claiming, “I love underpants.” David recalled a previous interview with the oaterial Girl, during which she gave him a pair of her own knickers as a present. “I still have them,” he said. “Maybe you could send them to Britney,” Madonna quipped. She continued, “Honestly, I live in England and I’m pretty cut off from a lot of these stories. I read stuff or hear stuff about the Royal family. So I come to New York and the first thing I hear is about everyone not wearing their underpants. What’s going on? It’s freezing outside.” Madonna, who shared a sexy kiss with Britney on stage at the 2003 oTV Awards, said she thought the lack of knickers was a “fashion trend”. “I hope the same thing doesn’t happen for men,” she laughed.
