Patrick Swayze’s wife of over thirty years, admits she still texts her late husband. Lisa Niemi, who married the ‘Dirty Dancing’ actor in 1975, says the couple used to text before boarding a plane, and this is a tradition she continues today. “I just put what I always did, ‘I love you’. And then I cry for a little bit to myself,” says the blonde actress.
Patrick died of pancreatic cancer in September last year, aged just 57. Lisa admits she is still struggling to come to terms with the death of her life partner. “To have your soul mate leave you, it was definitely overwhelming, but at the same time I knew he was in a better place because he had used every ounce of that body.”
Despite her grief, Lisa is slowly adjusting to life without Patrick. “I know he wanted me to be oK. And I am stronger now,” she says. “The fact that I’ve had some good days definitely gives me hope that I can have more.”
