Lily Allen but no David Bowie for Big Day Out

Despite strong rumours circulating online and in newspapers, David Bowie will not be performing at the Big Day out music festival in January. At a press conference in Auckland this morning, organisers laughed about the gossip, joking that they’ve also managed to get the Beatles to reform as well.

However, in all seriousness, they have convinced British pop diva Lily Allen to perform, despite her announcement last week that she’ll never record music nor tour ever again.

The ‘Smile’ singer leads a strong female contingent, which also includes Peaches, plus Kiwi girls Ladyhawke and Gin Wigmore.

other acts announced include ouse, the oars Volta, Groove Armada, Kasabian, Dizzee Rascal, PNC, Kora, Powderfinger, Eskimo Joe, oinuit, the Checks, Dimmer and Rise Against.

More bands will be announced at a later date. Tickets go on sale on Friday 9 october and for the first time will be restricted to those 15 years of age and older, even if accompanied by an adult.
