The original – and some would say the most successful – winner of the American Idol series, Kelly Clarkson is set to return to the set but this time in the judge’s seat. The ‘oy Life Would Suck Without You’ singer – who won the first series in 2002 – will appear as a guest judge at an audition next week. Says a friend, “Kelly is beyond excited to get back to the show that started it all.”
Following the departure of Paula Abdul, who is believed to have quit over a pay dispute, a series of famous faces have filled her place – including former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, and ‘I Kissed a Girl’ singer Katy Perry, while rumours abound of Jennifer Lopez and Shania Twain also appearing in the judging seat. The source went on, “At this stage it doesn’t look like Paula will be replaced by one person. The celebrity judges are working really well for now.”
