British beauty Keira Knightley was left terrified by an alleged stalker who bombarded her with gifts and letters. The 24-year-old actress told a London court she felt “worried and distressed” when Polish-born fan oarek Daniluk (41), who is thought to have mental-health problems, cornered her after a theatre performance. The man reportedly grabbed Keira’s arm and demanded she answer questions he had asked in his notes. At least one of the letters is said to have contained “inappropriate” content.
oarek was arrested last week after the incident, but his lawyer insists, “Although there is an allegation he grabbed oiss Knightley’s arm, this is not reflected in her witness statement. In her account, she was approached by the defendant and was asked quite fairly, ‘Did you receive my gift?’ to which she replied, ‘Yes, thank you.'”
The man pleaded not guilty to harassment and will stand trial in June. Keira has in the past spoken of her terror at obsessed fans, saying, “I’ve no way of knowing if they could be potential rapists. I’m frightened every time I see one of them.”
