Newly single Katie Holmes is getting by with a little help from the man she called her “first love”, Dawson’s Creek star Joshua Jackson.
The 34-year-old, who played Dawson’s Creek heart-throb Pacey Witter, dated Katie briefly during the first season of the show. Joshua revealed on TV talk show George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight that he and Katie had rekindled their friendship recently over the phone.

“Like any old friend, it was like, ‘Oh, hi how are ya? What’s going on?’ ‘I had a kid’, ‘Yeah, that’s crazy, I heard’… It was nice, it was very nice, actually,” said Joshua, recalling the conversation.

But fans hoping for a real life Dawson’s Creek romance are out of luck, as Josh has been dating actress Diane Kruger since 2006. There is still speculation about a Dawson’s Creek on-screen reunion, although Joshua says it is not happening any time soon.
“Well, we killed the show so I don’t think that’s ever going to happen. Never say never. If I’m out of work for enough years, absolutely. We’ll be old and grey and nasty by the time [that happens].”
