Kate Winslet: I look like people on the street

Titanic movie star Kate Winslet says she's like every other woman on the street.

For many women around the world, Kate Winslet is a screen icon – not only because of her acting abilities but also because of her “real” attitude to life, beauty and weight.

The Oscar-winning actress spoke to the Sun, sharing that even though she’s often ranked highly in “sexiest actress polls” she thinks she looks no better than the average woman.

“I look like the people that walk down the street. I don’t have perfect boobs, I don’t have zero cellulite — of course I don’t — and I’m curvy. If that is something that makes women feel empowered in any way, that’s great.”

She added: “On a deeper, subconscious level, it’s one of the reasons why I’ve allowed my stupid self to be so naked on screen.”

Kate (36) hasn’t been one to hide her body, famously baring her breasts in the 1997 box office hit Titanic when she starred opposite Leonardo DiCaprio. She was only 21 at the time, and since then has not been afraid of her body’s changes.

Kate, who split from director Sam Mendes in 2010, has two children. Her daughter Mia (11) is from her first marriage to Jim Threapleton, and her son Joe (8) from her marriage to Sam.
