Eating gelato and decadent desserts in Italy for her role in the upcoming film ‘East Pray Love’, Julia Roberts says she piled on the pounds for “professional reasons”. However, her three children don’t have the same luck when it comes to sugary treats.
Julia insists, “I’m a pretty strict mom when it comes to sweets, even though I have such a sweet tooth myself.” In fact, the oscar-winner is so strict that twins Hazel and Phinnaeus (5) and son Henry (3) are only allowed to eat junk food on special occasions.
“You want sweets, icecream and cake to be a great treat and a celebration,” says Julia. “Something that’s not everyday. I think this makes them appreciate it when they do have it.”
And as if those words of wisdom weren’t enough, Julia’s ‘Eat Pray Love’ co-star Richard Jenkins has praised her parenting skills, raving, “She’s an unbelievably devoted mom. She’s in every scene of this film and every time we cut for lunch, she went back to her kids to have lunch with them everyday. She’s always happier on her way to see them and the kids would light up when they saw her. She’s the best.”
