Jennifer Lopez has revealed that she turned down a judging role on the US version of ‘The X Factor’ and decided to join the judging panel of ‘American Idol’ instead. The 41-year-old singer said she was approached by ‘The X Factor’, but decided to take part in the rival talent search show instead because it had been around for longer. She said, “We did talk about ‘The X Factor’ for a little bit. But at the end of day, thinking about my career and everything that was going on, when the opportunity to do ‘Idol’ came along, it seemed a better fit. ‘Idol’ has been around for so many years. It’s an institution. To be involved in something like that felt really great.” The mother of two says although she’s enjoying mentoring young hopefuls, she’s unsure whether she will return to the show for its next season.
