Survivor NZ host revealed

Meet the popular face set to put Kiwis to the test on the new TVNZ show.

Meet the host of Survivor New Zealand – and no, it’s not The Bachelor NZ’s Chrystal Chenery.

The exciting new gig went to Seven Sharp reporter, Matt Chisholm.

Crystal, who appeared on the 2015 season of The Bachelor and Dancing with the Stars had previously caused a social media storm when she made a bold claim for the role.

She told her online followers: “I am the new co-host for Survivor NZ what do you think?”

Matt, who recently married his partner, Ellen Cairns and revealed the couple are expecting their first child later this year, is thrilled with his new on-screen role.

“I never would have dreamed that I would be part of the Survivor phenomenon. Working in News and Current Affairs is a fantastic ride but I’m looking forward to dipping my toes in new waters for a bit

“I can’t wait to watch the castaways slug it out, in what is one of the hardest reality-show competitions in the world.”

The original Survivor host, Jeff Probst.

Survivor New Zealand sees Kiwi ‘castaways’ battle it out in an ultimate test of endurance, strength and strategy. Castaways compete in reward and immunity challenges, with weekly eliminations by tribal vote, until there is only one ‘Sole Survivor’.

More than 8,000 hopeful Kiwis applied to be part of the international television phenomenon, which will screen on TV2.
