Hilary Barry and Jack Tame have started on TV One’s Breakfast.

Despite the early hour, the pair, who made headlines when they were announced to be replacing former hosts Rawdon Christie and Nadine Chalmers-Ross, seemed thrilled to finally be on screen together.

“It’s so good to be here,” Hilary told viewers, excitedly. “It’s like I’ve been living a couple of suburbs away [on TV3].”

Jack said it was his job to be like [Bruce] “Springsteen and introduce the band” before welcoming new sports reporter, Brodie Kane, news reader Daniel Faitaua and weather presenter Sam Wallace – although he did fail to introduce himself to viewers!

That has been the only tiny hitch however, on the new look Breakfast.

Hilary, 46, is fresh from a four-month break following her shock resignation from TV3 in May, while Jack, 29, has recently moved back to New Zealand after a lengthy stint living in New York as TVNZ’s American correspondent.

While this is Hilary and Jack’s first time working together, the pair had been singing each other’s praises before starting on the show together.

“I’ve been a fan of Jack’s for a long time … I do feel very confident this is a combination that’s really going to work,” Hilary told Woman’s Day.
