Heath Ledger

Verne Troyer, best known as oini-oe in the ‘Austin Powers’ films, has revealed he was one of the few actors the late Heath Ledger used to confide in. The two stars shared a close bond, co-starring in ‘The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus’ together.

Heath, who died of an accidental overdose in January 2008, amazed Verne with revelations about his life. Verne says, “What was my best memory of Heath? Just sitting next to him and hearing him open up about his life. I was honoured he told me the things he did. He was a very open character.”

Heath was missed at the premiere of ‘Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus’, which he died whilst filming. “It’s emotional for everybody. Heath was such an amazing and giving person, and we all loved him,” says Verne.
